I’m a lucky girl. My employer, has given me a 6 month sabbatical to explore and celebrate how food connects us all and makes us closer.
It all started with a pie – The Falling-In-Love Chocolate Mousse Pie from the movie Waitress. I was stressed out from work and decided to start making pies from scratch. Little did I know pie making would become my passion, a passion I give away to others as way to show my gratitude for them.
So this is it, my grand exploration – a living cookbook ,of not just pie, but of all the food that make us closer, that we love to share with others and talk about together. In other words, the food that makes us “us”.
This blog is a love letter to my oven and yours. I want to change the world one happy plate at a time. So gather round my kitchen table for stories, recipes, and ideas about how to make the most of every last bite.
Thanks! Now let’s get cooking!
Stephanie: Your sabbatical sounds wonderful! I will be following your exploration of food (one of my favorite topics) and how it brings people together.
Recently, I read a book that I think you might want to take a look at because of its relevance to the theme of your sabbatical. It’s Keeping the Feast by Paula Butturini.
Here is a link to Paula’s website: http://www.paulabutturini.com/blog
In the 1970s, Paula and my husband used to work together at UPI in Dallas before she headed for Europe to become a foreign correspondent. She and her husband John live in Paris and we had the great good fortune to reconnect with them there last fall — and to spend a long, rainy afternoon in a cozy bistro eating and drinking and talking for hours. Good memories!

i love that idea and it’s so true! the food i make for my husband is so important to me, it’s an expression of love even if it’s tacos. i will take a look at the domesticgeisha. good luck to you as well, patty :>
just to let you know i made the the butterscotch recipe for my sister last week. since she was moving away, i knew her favorite pie would be the perfect gift. i had to keep myself from eating the butterscotch out of the pan to make sure she got some too. it’s oh-so-good, but i know you know that!
